The gods need to feel needed

The poor said yes!

Liam read the letter left on his office desk: His housing development would be endorsed.

Advocates for the poor - the people he’d long tried to help - had harassed him at every turn. Objections had been filed every day.

And now, at last, the “protectors” of the poor said yes!

Liam created his development project to help the needy. They couldn’t always see what they needed to lift themselves out of poverty, but Liam had studied them at uni. He would build an institution where they would be free to improve their lot.

At this very moment, he was literally steamrolling the old posh neighborhood to build homes for the people who needed him.

Homes built with Etherington-Smith steel and paid for with government programmes, but he had chosen this development because he had higher ideals than Father.

The needy needed him.

Those downtrodden, forsaken, brave souls had finally gotten out of their own way and realized what a good life they could have.

And Liam would provide it.

Unless…

…unless the endorsement only came because Father died and the aid societies thought they could control his son.

…unless this was a gift from Lady Thorne.

…unless this was only because of his new powers.

…unless the unknown person controlling the Etherington-Smith empire was behind it.

Liam snuffed out every pestering doubt.

He smiled proudly while he was driven to see Mother and Tic. Now he had good news to share with the bad.
