The Last Letter From a Father

 Dear Prudence,

Today was your 8th birthday and you grow more beautiful every time I see you. Your mother was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever known,  and I think your beauty will surpass hers one day. My heart aches seeing you grow; your eyes, your smile, your hair, everything about you makes me think of your mother. I can’t continue without her, today after listening to you laugh and looking at your smile I’ve made my mind up. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more of what you deserved. It’s probably best if you forget me.

Goodbye.
